Indigo:
Harmony between heaven and Earth, Between Dream ans Reality
Part 8- The Color of the
Gateway to Spirituality and Transcendence

In
many ways, the distinction between the colors blue and purple is
quite difficult to achieve with the color indigo, which, is a
“shade” of blue. Or purple…
But, in the consciousness and perception of the “Asian” people, this color is distinctly attributed to energetic "presences," being the “talk” of the next increase in vibration on the “scale” of light frequency (430–450 nm), but also of positioning and color chakras, or what would be the spiritual "advance”.
So, being the “talk” of a clear perception, I will treat this color separately, and not together with the shades of colors, which we will discuss later.
So, from the point of view of psychological concerns and connection to human character, the indigo color has the following main characteristics:
Intuition and sensitivity: Indigo is a color associated with intuition, inner wisdom, and self-knowledge, favoring manifestations of sensitivity, empathy, and compassion.

So, from the point of view of psychological concerns and connection to human character, the indigo color has the following main characteristics:
Intuition and sensitivity: Indigo is a color associated with intuition, inner wisdom, and self-knowledge, favoring manifestations of sensitivity, empathy, and compassion.
Spirituality: Can be
associated with spirituality, mysticism, and transcendence,
which contributes to the association with illusion, dreaming,
and imagination.
Calm and focus: It is a
calm and soothing color that can induce a sense of peace and
relaxation, contributing to enhanced effects on concentration,
attention to detail, and introspection.
Loyalty and dedication:
Can be associated with loyalty, faithfulness, and devotion, to
which can be added the shades represented by dedication,
perseverance, and determination.
The extension of
psychological “perceptions” will note that people attracted to
the color indigo are often introspective and contemplative,
spending a lot of time reflecting on their own thoughts and
feelings.
But this conscious “effort” is born from a need for independence and/or autonomy, with the people who prefer it having the possibility to be strongly independent and value individual freedom.
Somewhere,
as a kind of bridge, there is also a tendency towards creativity
and imagination among those who like the color indigo, the
people who prefer it are often, manifestly, or not, artistic,
musical, or talented individuals in other fields that require
creativity.
And this “bridge” is manifested by the need for tranquility and peace characteristic of those who like the color indigo, this being a calm and relaxing color, the people who prefer it are looking for tranquility and peace in their lives, against the background of an increased sensitivity to external stimuli.
Hence, the next step for those with a “taste” for indigo is often associated with spirituality and connection to the divine, with people who prefer this color being interested in religion, philosophy, or other fields that explore the meaning of life.
Rejection of the color indigo reflects “psychologically” the fear of the unknown, the “fear” of indigo can represent the unpleasantly large manifestation of mystery and the unknown, people who reject this color tend to be anxious or fearful of things they do not understand.
The consequence is the need for control, rejection of the indigo color can be associated with a lack of control, such as people being quite obsessed with controlling their environment, resulting in changing their behavior towards rigidity or inflexibility.
Rejecting indigo as an irrational or emotional color “describes” people who may prefer a more logical and rational approach to life and thus be reluctant to express their emotions.
The color indigo can be associated with spirituality and detachment from the material world, so people who reject it may be more interested in the material aspects of life and less concerned with the spiritual meaning of manifestation.
But it would not necessarily be the case that they are materialistic people, but only with added frustrations, people who reject the indigo color have a “tendency” to be less creative or imaginative, preferring a more practical, simplistic approach to life.
Ajna
chakra is also known as the “third eye” (“forehead center” or
“commanding center”), it is located centrally on the forehead,
between the eyebrows, it is perceived as having the color
indigo, it is not assigned a specific element, the symbol is
represented by an inverted triangle with a dot in the center, it
is invoked with the mantra “Aum”.
The main qualities of the Ajna chakra are represented by:
Intuition: Ajna is the center of intuition and inner knowing, which allows us to access a deeper insight into the world and ourselves beyond the physical senses.

But it would not necessarily be the case that they are materialistic people, but only with added frustrations, people who reject the indigo color have a “tendency” to be less creative or imaginative, preferring a more practical, simplistic approach to life.

The main qualities of the Ajna chakra are represented by:
Intuition: Ajna is the center of intuition and inner knowing, which allows us to access a deeper insight into the world and ourselves beyond the physical senses.
Discernment: This chakra
helps us discern truth from illusion, see beyond appearances,
and make wise decisions.
Imagination: Ajna
stimulates imagination and creativity, allowing us to visualize
new possibilities and give rise to innovative ideas.
Self-awareness: This
chakra helps us better understand ourselves, our thoughts,
emotions, and motivations.
Spiritual Connection: Ajna
is the gateway to the spiritual realm, connecting us to a higher
consciousness and transcendent reality (via the upper chakra,
Sahasrara).
A balanced Ajna chakra is
manifested by:
- Strong Intuition: The ability to perceive subtle information and make sound decisions based on instinct.
- Clear discernment: the ability to distinguish truth from illusion and navigate life’s complexities with wisdom.
- Rich imagination: the ability to generate creative ideas and visualize new possibilities.
- Deep self-awareness: a clear understanding of one’s own thoughts, emotions, and motivations.
- Strong spiritual connection: the sense of belonging to a reality greater than ourselves and of connection with divinity.
An imbalance of the Ajna
chakra can be manifested by:
- Lack of intuition: difficulty perceiving subtle information and making correct decisions.
- Misjudgment: the tendency to misinterpret situations and make decisions based on emotion or prejudice.
- Lack of imagination: difficulty generating new and creative ideas.
- Lack of self-awareness: difficulty understanding one’s own thoughts, emotions, and motivations.
- Lack of spiritual connection: the feeling of isolation and lack of meaning in life.
Factors that can
contribute to an imbalance of the Ajna chakra include:
- Chronic stress: Stress can block the flow of energy through the chakra, leading to imbalance.
- Negative thoughts: Negative thoughts can create energy blockages and affect intuition.
- Lack of sleep: Insufficient sleep can weaken the Ajna chakra and affect mental clarity.
- Exposure to toxins: Toxins in the environment can negatively affect the Ajna chakra.
- Emotional Trauma: Past trauma can block chakra energy and lead to difficulty discerning truth from illusion.

A balanced Ajna chakra allows us to use our intuition discerningly, to be self-aware and to be connected to spirituality, so we can open ourselves to a life richer in intuition, wisdom, spirituality, and personal transformation.
But this balancing act takes practice and constant dedication.
Meditation: Meditation on the third eye can help open and clear the chakra. Focus on the area between the eyebrows and visualize a bright indigo light.
Affirmations: Repeat
positive affirmations related to the Ajna chakra, such as “I am
intuitive and discerning,” “I understand myself and follow my
path," and “I am connected to a higher reality.”
Yoga: Certain yoga poses,
such as baddha konasana (butterfly pose) and virasana (hero
pose), can help stimulate the Ajna chakra.
Spend time in nature:
Nature has a calming and invigorating effect on the Ajna chakra.
Spend time outdoors, especially in places with water or
mountains.
Wear Gemstones: Some
gemstones, such as lapis lazuli, amethyst, and azurite, are
associated with the Ajna chakra and can help balance it.
Therapy: Therapy can be
beneficial to resolve emotional trauma that can block the Ajna
chakra.
Interpretation of the “preference” for the color indigo
Mystery: Indigo is associated with mystery, the unknown, and the unseen realm. It invites us to explore the depths of the mind and the universe.
Wisdom: Indigo is the
color of wisdom and intuitive knowing. It helps us access a
deeper perspective and see beyond appearances.
Spirituality and
Enlightenment: This color is associated with spirituality and
connection to the divine, connecting us to a transcendent
reality and deeper meaning in life.
Transformation: Indigo is
the color of transformation and change. It helps us break free
from limiting patterns and evolve into a better version of
ourselves.
The “cultural-historical” interpretation (the starting point of the considerations)
From the point of view of spirituality, especially in the Asian area, in Buddhism and Hinduism, where the association is immediately made with the color of the Ajna chakra, indigo is associated with any symbolism or representation of enlightenment and the state of nirvana, being often used to represent compassion and wisdom.
A perception that effectively reaches the association with the “elect”, with divine kingship and power, or of servants chosen by and towards this divine manifestation.
For this reason, indigo, with its various shades, for example, causes the pharaohs of Ancient Egypt to wear indigo garments as a symbol of their status.
Like the “chosen” of the Roman or Greek world, who used purple, a shade easily associated with indigo (especially in conditions where the purple dye “aged” quickly and became indigo), to show their political or social status.
As perceptions generalize, even having a starting point, it came to be that in Judaism, indigo became the color of the sky and the sea, symbolizing the power and majesty of God, being also used to represent the covenant between God and his people.
A clear similarity will also appear in Christianity, where the color indigo is associated with the Virgin Mary and purity, not forgetting the representation of heaven and the divine realm.
This will appeal to the fact that, in the Middle Ages, indigo was often used to represent the night sky and the depths of the universe.
Symbolism is found in mystery and the unknown, indigo representing... Yes, mystery and the unknown.
For example, during the French Revolution, the color indigo was adopted as a symbol of freedom and equality, being, in fact, the color of the trousers worn by the French revolutionaries.
Symbolism or presence found in the United States, where indigo was used as a symbol of patriotism and national unity, the original American flag containing indigo (and not blue) stripes.
A “strange” similarity is also found during the Indian Independence Movement, where indigo was an important color in the independence movement, being the color of clothes worn by Mahatma Gandhi and other independence leaders.
Even in art, “confused” indigo was used by some Impressionist artists, such as Claude Monet and Edgar Degas, who used indigo to create a vibrant and luminous atmosphere in their paintings.
Post-impressionists, Vincent van Gogh was another artist who appreciated indigo, using color to express intense emotions and create a sense of drama and energy in his paintings.
Then, in abstract art, indigo is used to represent a wide range of concepts and ideas, for example, Kazimir Malevich used an indigo square in his painting “Suprematist Square” as a symbol of infinity.
Practical
interpretation — neuromarketing
Mystery: Evokes feelings of mystery, magic, and spirituality.
Luxury: symbolizes luxury,
refinement, and exclusivity, having the “ability” to create an
elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
Wisdom: It is associated
with wisdom, knowledge, and intuition, having quite an
interesting psychological effect by inspiring confidence and
courage.
Creativity: can be
associated with creativity, imagination, and innovation,
psychologically stimulating concentration and attention.
Calm: represents inner
calm, peace, and tranquility, having the psychological effect of
reducing stress and anxiety by stimulating feelings of calm and
relaxation.
The color indigo is a
color frequently used in marketing for:

- Evoking feelings of mystery, magic, and exclusivity, luxury and haute couture stores often use the color indigo to create an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
- To address the creative and innovation-oriented audience.
- Creating an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere, the color indigo is frequently used in marketing campaigns to evoke feelings of mystery, luxury, and exclusivity.
However, indigo can be a
cold and distant color, so it is important to use it sparingly,
too much indigo can be perceived as depressing and tiring to the
eyes.
