Purple:
Shades of Magic, Dream, and Deep Emotions
Part 9- The Color of the
Gateway to Spirituality and Transcendence

Purple…
The color at the edge of the visible spectrum (380–430 nm), the
twilight zone where human perception loses the ability to
distinguish anything, the light hiding among the shadows of the
night, becoming an imaginary search not for the smallest glimmer
through the black the blindness of the ordinary senses.
It is the area of enigmas, of the “higher” search when the human being and soul remain without the perceptible light frequency scale to help it through the new enigmatic world, which stands on the border between reality and dream, between known worlds and hidden, intuitive realms.
Purple… The color of the “highest” chakra, the Sahasrara (crown), the seventh chakra in the human energy system, is located at the top of the head, in the place where the energetic thread of connection with what is believed to be the soul world starts.
A purple “thread” “to white barely perceptible, maybe invisible”, a bridge between the worlds of everyday reality and the spiritual realms, a manifestation that would be the last level of “ascension” possible for humans in the spiritual “advance” of a common being with a soul…
This color is the color of intuition and clairvoyance, inner knowing, and deep wisdom…. A mysterious “hue” of red and blue, where subtle signs can be deciphered and the subliminal vibrations of the “link” between human as being and soul as energy can be perceived.
A color that can be a gateway to a realm of mystery, where imagination can run free, unfettered by the limits of the material world.
The color of dreams and fantasies, magic and miracles, a vibrant shade that hides untold stories and deep emotions, waiting to be discovered.
Which invites us to explore, to a journey into the depth of our soul and the vastness of the universe, stimulating our curiosity, awakening our imagination, and opening our “material perception” to new possibilities, spatially to be able to discover our true potential and we can connect with the essence of our being.

while a dark purple can be associated with mystery and power.
Equally important is the context represented by how a person perceives purple can be influenced by the context in which they see it.
For example, purple may be seen as a calming color in a meditation room but may be seen as a threatening color in a dark room.
And finally, a person’s individual experiences of purple are also important, perceptions that can influence how they interpret it.
For example, a person with a negative experience associated with purple may be more likely to reject it.
The
Sahasrara chakra, also known as the crown chakra, is the seventh
chakra in the human energy system, located at the top of the
head, the elements attributed to it are Spirit, Akasha
(etheric), symbolizing infinite space, purity, and connection
with everything that exists, it has as a symbol the pointed
triangle (representing spiritual consciousness and aspiration to
divinity) or the thousand-petalled lotus (symbolizing expansion
of consciousness, enlightenment and connection with divinity),
having two invocation mantras, “Aum” (universal sacred mantra,
considered to vibrate to the frequency of creation and pure
consciousness) and “Aham Brahmasmi” (meaning “I am Brahman”, the
Hindu concept of ultimate reality).
The main qualities of the Sahasrara chakra are:

And finally, a person’s individual experiences of purple are also important, perceptions that can influence how they interpret it.

The main qualities of the Sahasrara chakra are:
- Consciousness and spiritual connection: Sahasrara is associated with higher consciousness, enlightenment, and connection with the divine, being even a way to connect with divinity, the universal source of energy and consciousness.
- Spirituality and Pure Consciousness: It governs spiritual aspiration and transcendence of the ego, Sahasrara being the way through which we can experience this consciousness, unconditioned by the ego or the illusions of the material world.
- Inner Peace: Influences the feeling of inner peace and oneness with all that exists, a balanced Sahasrara inducing a deep state of inner peace and tranquility of mind.
- Wisdom and mental clarity: Stimulates intuitive wisdom and self-awareness, this chakra is a pathway to mental clarity, intuition, and a deeper perspective on life.
- Happiness and Enlightenment: Helping you experience true and unconditional happiness, this chakra is associated with spiritual enlightenment and reaching a higher level of consciousness.
When the Sahasrara chakra
is balanced:
- You feel connected to the divine source and all that exists, having the feeling of connection with all that exists, with nature, people, and divinity.
- You experience inner peace and real happiness, profound, but which attracts a state of relative independence from external circumstances.
- You have a clear view of your life, mentally and intuitively, giving a larger perspective on life.
- You feel guided by your creativity and intuition, inspired and driven by an intrinsic desire to contribute to the good of the world.
- You are full of compassion and love for all that exists, people or living things.
When the Sahasrara chakra
is unbalanced:
- You feel disconnected from spirituality and the meaning of life, having clear perceptions of imbalance in almost any assessment in this regard.
- You feel lost and confused, identifying a lack of mental clarity, which is the result of a confused mind, manifesting as difficulty concentrating and memory problems.
- You have difficulty concentrating and making decisions, the “background” being an obvious lack of intuition, which manifests itself in wrong decisions and a limited perspective on life.
- You feel frustrated and dissatisfied, especially against the background of a lack of creativity perceived personally or by those around you, such as people being uninspired, lacking motivation and may have difficulty expressing their talents.
- You are prone to panic attacks and anxiety, which will attract selfishness and lack of compassion, people with this imbalance can be selfish, self-centered, and have difficulty connecting with others.
The factors that
contribute to the imbalance of the Sahasrara chakra are
represented by:
- Lack of spiritual practice: Lack of meditation, prayer, or other spiritual practices can lead to an imbalance of the Sahasrara chakra.
- Trauma and negative experiences: Childhood trauma or other negative experiences can block the energy of the Sahasrara chakra.
- Chronic Stress: Chronic stress can deplete the energy of the Sahasrara chakra and lead to imbalance.
- Addictions: Addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances can block the energy of the Sahasrara chakra.
- Lack of connection with nature: Lack of spending time in nature can lead to an imbalance of the Sahasrara chakra.

Spiritual practices: Meditation, prayer, and other spiritual practices can help open and balance the Sahasrara chakra.
Meditation: is one of the
most effective ways to balance the Sahasrara chakra. There are
many diverse types of meditation, but they all involve focusing
your attention on the present moment and connecting with your
inner self. Transcendental meditation, mindfulness meditation,
and chakra meditation are excellent options for opening and
balancing the Sahasrara chakra.
Prayer: Another powerful
way, regardless of your religion or spirituality, prayer can
help you feel more connected to something bigger than yourself
and find inner peace.
Yoga and breathing
exercises: Yoga and breathing exercises can help move energy
through the chakra and balance it. Yoga is a wonderful practice
that combines physical movement, breathing, and meditation to
promote holistic well-being. There are many distinct types of
yoga, but all can help open and balance the Sahasrara chakra,
with Kundalini yoga and Hatha yoga being particularly beneficial
options for this chakra.
Spending time in nature:
Spending time in nature, especially in the mountains or near
water, can help energize the Sahasrara chakra. Nature has a
powerful healing effect, spending time outdoors can help you
feel more connected to divinity and universal energy. Go for
walks in the forest, hike, swim, or just sit quietly in a
beautiful place in nature.
Healthy Lifestyle: A
healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular
exercise, and sufficient sleep can help balance the Sahasrara
chakra. Therefore:
- Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help nourish your body and mind and maintain a balanced state of energy. Avoid processed foods, refined sugar, and excessive caffeine, which can disrupt the energy of the Sahasrara chakra.
- Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for good physical and mental health. Adults need about 7–8 hours of sleep per night to rest and recharge.
- Get regular exercise: This can help release pent-up energy and improve your overall well-being. Choose a physical activity that you enjoy and do it regularly, whether it’s walking, running, swimming, or dancing.
- Reduces stress: Stress can harm the Sahasrara chakra. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as yoga, meditation, spending time in nature, or spending time with loved ones.
- Emotional Therapy and Healing: Emotional therapy and healing can help resolve trauma and negative experiences that can block Sahasrara's chakra energy.
Other beneficial practices
that can be represented by:
- Working with Crystals: Certain crystals, such as amethyst, clear quartz, and celestine, can help open and balance the Sahasrara chakra. You can wear these crystals as jewelry, keep them in your pocket, or place them on your Sahasrara chakra while meditating.
- Aromatherapy: Essential oils such as lavender, sandalwood, and frankincense can help calm the mind and open the Sahasrara chakra. Add a few drops of essential oil to a warm bath, use a diffuser, or apply a drop of oil to the Sahasrara chakra.
- Music and sound: Listening to relaxing music or nature sounds can help calm the mind and open the Sahasrara chakra. Binaural music and Tibetan bowls can be particularly beneficial.
- Journaling: This is a wonderful way to explore your thoughts and feelings and connect with your inner self. Writing about your spiritual experiences and spiritual goals can help you feel more connected to the Sahasrara chakra.
The “cultural-historical” interpretation (the starting point of the considerations)
Then, without omitting an “element” of such importance, it is with color that completes a circle of the “unseen, initiated by the invisible which will become red and ends in the infusion of red and blue which will give the perception of purple, for to become invisible again…
In the perfect circle of the primordial red of living that will be completed in the blue red, perceived as purple, of ascension…
Because of this, the interpretations are multiple and suggest the psyche, the spirit, the balance between impulsiveness and warm sensitivity, devotion, dedication, love, magic, eroticism, magical relationships, dominance, charm, mysticism, inspiration, fantasy, idealism, desire, and dreams, understanding through intuition (clairvoyance), higher knowledge, the occult, and the unseen.
Purple is the favorite color of more than 75% of young pre-adolescents either because of the considerations related to red and the desire to live to the fullest embodied in it or because of the desire for knowledge and infinity born of the pleasure of blue.
In addition, it is the favorite color of most pregnant women (purple embodying in it both the red of girls and the blue of boys), of individuals with various endocrine conditions, of sexual “emanations” on the part of both sexes, which can be considered to be the expression of the intimate desire for intimacy and understanding regardless of the real or mystical status of the individual’s situation.
For these reasons, those who prefer this color are those who tend towards spiritual, mental, and/or emotional strength. Constantly seeking to know, they are keen readers (except when they have other sources of perception) being particularly interested in what those around them have done or are doing, looking for an idol to which they can link their existence or the gestures they want come.
Of course, they will seek to find the deepest spiritual connections possible, and for this reason, they are particularly inclined towards the theological and/or spiritual aspects of life.
We can also talk about an immature psyche (an unstable balance between the psyche and the body), anchoring in dreams or thinking full of desires and fantasy that will be born from an imbalance between the maturity of the individual and his desires in regarding life full of confrontations and harsh realities.
All this can also be due to their tendency towards perfectionism, the ability to become fanatics for an ideal without considering their power to get where they want.

The true basis of these considerations lies precisely in the desire to reach as high as possible and as close as possible to the chosen idol without any connection to the status of page or servant, without considering limits in terms of ascension.
In a kind of balance, purple as the preferred color will give rise to interpretations related to the desire for ascent to “uniqueness” in balance with weakness, while the less pleasant it is, it gives birth to interpretations related to the strength of the individual in compensation with his inability to achieve his goals without the collaboration of those around him.
Similar is the interpretation related to the tones of the purple color, the darker they are, the more it means that the person in question is closer to God based on collaboration with those around them, while the lighter tones give rise to interpretations related to instability.
A perception also confirmed by those who are accepted in perceiving the energies of souls, who, when characterized by the so-called purple color, are particularly “high” souls, manifesting in a material world by understanding it, accepting it, adapting, and so on.
The color of measure, purple, comes from the equal mixture of red and blue, from the mixture of lucidity and thoughtful action, the balance between earth and sky, senses and spirit, passion, and intelligence, love and wisdom (the 13th arcanum of the tarot, called Temperance or Temperance, represents an angel holding in his hands two vessels, one blue and the other red, between which flows a colorless fluid, the vital water, the purple being the result of the incessant exchange between the red of impulsive force and the blue of the sky, even though it is invisible in the representation.
It is very likely that the “secondary” representation is missing because purple is considered the symbol of alchemy, of mystery, behind purple the unseen mystery of Creation, transformation, or reincarnation is being carried out, or because it indicates a “spiritual transfusion”, the influence exerted from man to man through suggestion, persuasion, hypnotic influence, magic, in an eternal play of energies representing eternal resumption).
In addition, purple is the opposite of green (also in the representations of the life circle), signifying not the transition, in the spring, from death to life, i.e. evolution, but the autumnal transition from life to death, the material involution that causes its release spiritual evolution.
The opposition between these two colors can also be found in the symbolism of the mouth, purple being the mouth that swallows and extinguishes the light while green spits out and rekindles the light.
All of this seems to arise from the fact that green is the actual color of balance while purple is a color of born, created, perceived, etc. balance. in all its manifestations.
We must not lose sight of the inner characteristics of the human psyche which, most of the time, tends not to love the balance and peace itself but only the peace created or accepted (and even that not for too long) because, to ensure the continuity of progress, He, the Lord our God, has “endowed” us with the ability to get bored very quickly no matter how favorable, peaceful, satisfying the given situation is (in the conditions of too great a constant over time).
Only movement, the struggle, and the imbalance real or not, are the engines of the evolution of the being or the soul. Statism, acceptance, and balance are only factors of relaxation, of restoration, for a new step towards change, towards evolution, in favorable cases, or towards involution, which is also a favorable behavior because restoration will follow, on a more stable basis, more directed towards rapid evolution to make up for “lost time”.

This is why on the symbolic monuments of the Middle Ages, Jesus Christ wears a purple garment during the Passion, that is, when he fully assumed his incarnation and when at the moment of sacrifice he unites in him the Man, the son of the earth, the one who he will redeem with the Heavenly Spirit, immortal, in which he will return.
The same symbolism dresses the church choir in purple on Good Friday. Numerous gospels, psalters, and prayer books before the Renaissance were written on purple vellum paper, the letters being, in most cases, golden, to make the connection between the divine written message and the earthly purple of the human condition but also with the Lord’s passion.
The association of church books with purple could not help giving “mortuary” connotations to this color, it became for some cultures a color of semi-mourning, a mourning that does not carry valences related to death itself but to the passage to heaven, heaven, rest, etc. of the one who was close (to refer here also to a kind of additional respect towards the “departed”).
It is good to remember that the idea of purple clothing is present for the first time in the myths related to Apollo or the solar myth, a representation that can easily refer us to the association of the color for Jesus (another myth of solar acceptance) which is often associated with obedience and submission — from here was born the custom of tying a purple stone around the neck of children, not only to protect them from illness but also to make them good and obedient.
In the Far East, the transition from red to purple is interpreted in a completely different, purely carnal sense, signifying the transition from yang to yin. Thus, the ritual pairings between yogis, within Tantrism, take place in a room bathed in purple light because the purple light stimulates the sexual glands of the woman, while the red light stimulates those of the man.
Practical
interpretation — neuromarketing
Even if an “overlapping” perception with that of the indigo color is evident, it will be possible to notice that there are some differences, in the case of the purple color, the emotions and associations attributed to this color being represented by:
Luxury and nobility: it is a color that evokes feelings of luxury, opulence, and exclusivity, without forgetting belonging to mystery and nobility, being also a color that attracts attention and creates a strong visual impact.
Creativity:
psychologically stimulates creativity, imagination, inspiration,
and innovation.
Spirituality: It is
associated with spirituality, mystery, and intuition, with the
“secondary” psychological effect of inspiring feelings of calm
and relaxation.
Wisdom: symbolizes wisdom,
knowledge, and sophistication, thus being a color that improves
mood and reduces stress.
Uniqueness: It is a
distinctive color that can make you stand out, having the “gift”
to increase the sense of self-confidence and the feeling of
strength and stability.
Purple is a color
frequently used in marketing to promote luxury, premium, or
exclusive products and services, to evoke feelings of mystery
and intrigue, to attract attention and create a memorable visual
impact, or to appeal to creative and non-conformist audiences.
Thus, the logos of many luxury brands, cosmetics companies, wine products (especially bottled wine), and advertising agencies use purple.
Purple is frequently used in marketing campaigns to evoke feelings of luxury, mystery, and exclusivity, luxury cosmetics and perfume stores often use purple to create an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
But purple can be a polarizing color, so it’s important to use it sparingly, too much purple can be overwhelming and tiring on the eyes.
